Shentel is one of three internet service providers Bedford County contracted with to expand internet access to unserved or underserved areas. 

Their first and largest project area includes several regions of Bedford County, including addresses around the Town of Bedford and in parts of the northern half of the County.

• Contract approved: July 2022
• Construction started: May 2023
• Contract end date: Sept. 2025

Their second project area focuses on the Cifax/Sedalia/Charlemont communities in the northern part of the County. 

• Project completion expected by July 2025
