Recreation Advisory Board

The Recreation Advisory Board is established and empowered to review and advise upon existing and develop new proposed programs, policies, fees, and procedures deemed appropriate for the equitable, efficient and effective coordination and delivery of sports, athletics and other recreational opportunities for citizens of Bedford County of all ages. The Board is advisory in nature and its findings and recommendations are implemented in cooperation with and at the discretion of the Bedford County Department of Parks & Recreation and the Board of Supervisors.

There are seven members on the Recreation Advisory Board. Each member is appointed by their respective Supervisor.

The Recreation Advisory Board meets at least four times a year at the Parks and Recreation office (1257 County Farm Road, Bedford).

Local Emergency Planning Committee

The Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) exists to ensure that all acts required by SARA Title III, the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986, are complied with and that all necessary work related to developing a comprehensive chemical emergency response plan for the Town of Bedford and Bedford County is accomplished.

Meeting are held quarterly (January, April, July, October) on the second Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m.

The July 10, 2024, meeting will be held at the Smith Mountain Lake Water Treatment Plant located at 1500 Radford Church Rd., Moneta.
